Andrew,
I have been waiting since filing this for questions or comments. I don't
understand why you are saying
This appears to crash only on self-compiled software not in Debian. No
response from submitter since October 2018
I did not 'respond' because there have been no messages to me that
required a response.
I think you're missing the point about the 'self-compiled' software.
The whole system shouldn't crash or hang from one misbehaving program
(and surf doesn't 'misbehave' on other distros). This problem did not
happen on other non-Debian-based distros, so it shows that there's
something not quite right with Debian's drive or kernel patches.
Sincerely,
Will Brokenbourgh
