I've detected this "dh-new" pattern in a lot of other packages, for
example, this one:

https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rbuild/unstable/amd64/collectl_4.3.1-1.rbuild.log.gz

I'm raising this to serious because it breaks many other packages.
However, if the old behaviour will not come back, then please say so,
so that individual bugs can be filed instead.
