/etc/logrotate.conf before, /etc/logrotate.d/wtmp after the upgrade. > II. dpkg should also ask If you had modified /etc/logrotate.conf > > Configuration file '/etc/logrotate.conf' > ==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation. > ==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version. > What would you like to do about it ? I don't remember exactly what questions I got. I probably assumed that in such a case, the existing config was *moved* to the new location (thus preserving the user's configuration as required), instead of being reset at the new location. The above question was just about the new /etc/logrotate.conf contents, for which I was OK with "Y", but nothing was said about the new /etc/logrotate.d/wtmp file. BTW, I've just checked at the logrotate NEWS.Debian file, and it does not have an entry about this change. Thus there was no attempt to clearly inform the user about the reset. -- Vincent Lefèvre <[email protected]> - Web: <https://www.vinc17.net/> 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: <https://www.vinc17.net/blog/> Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon)
