Looks very good! I injected the patch by Helmut Grohne (#862234) as well. For the upgrade I was simply using https://salsa.debian.org/r-pkg-team/maintenance-utilities/blob/master/routine-update I developed it for R packages but it works for other packages as well. Since I noticed that the new upstream source includes some windows binaries I'll remove them via Files-Excluded.
