Disabling the display manager (lightdm) and booting to command line works, but the same happens as soon as I use startx. Downgrading to kernel 5.3 does not solve the problem and I had to complete remove nvidia and use nouveau to get back to the desktop and write this bug report. Now I am trying to install 340.107 from the snapshot repo, but it will take a lot of time as it seems because of the many dependencies.
