Here's an autopkgtest that reproduces that bug: https://salsa.debian.org/md/libxcrypt/-/merge_requests/2 I've confirmed that it fails with 1:4.4.18-3 and succeeds with 1:4.4.18-4. There's no particular urgency to add that for bullseye, but I think it would be good to have in a future upload targeting bookworm: when libraries need to be split between /lib and /usr/lib and/or must support static linking, it's easy to get something subtly wrong, and an autopkgtest that calls a simple function from the library makes sure that mistakes won't go undetected. smcv
