Yes, unfortunately this is confirmed. In my last upload of scilab I did much to allow one to run the command-line tool (try running scilab-cli or scilab-adv-cli, this now works) but the GUI is not working, nor the graphics if one tries to plot something from the command-line tool.
Part of these problems are due to jogl2, see

I am currently doing some work in experimental in order to update jogl2
and its dependencies. While doing so should allow one to plot from
scilab-(adv-)cli, the GUI would still not be working.
