These bugs (374345, 374685) are only valid for cdrecord version at
least 2.01+01a03.

"dapper" ships with 2.01+01a01 as does "sarge" and the non-suid
writing works fine there. This had me going for a while since I
assumed that ubuntu would be based on bug fixes to sid.

Perhaps this is what the earlier posters to this bug were saying but
I didn't get it. Sorry for excessive posting in that case.
