This is missing grub-install log that triggers the bug at the very least. I wouldn't know why this would happen in a binNMU, it sounds like your install is messed up somehow, like the core.img rebuilt but not modules or something. Does 2.12~rc1-13 work? Does 2.12-1 work which I just uploaded?
