Mostly at 9GB but 12GB also fails.

Yes. The tests on real hardware were all on one machine and the ones in 
VMWare I've repeated in the same virtual machine (two times from 
scratch).

If I try that with -f option, I get "Nothing to do: NTFS volume size is 
already OK."

I tried resizing from 9->10 => "failed" files unchanged
followed by resizing from 10->8 => "failed" files unchanged.
Full check of all files again => same 4 failed, no new failed files.

Or do you mean for me to retry again starting from the situation _before_ 
resizing?

BTW, I did the md5sums with '-b' option.
