Thanks for the verification. I am going to do as you suggest.
Howeever, it may be possible to get this to work without. In
chiark-utils, /usr/sbin/really is also setuid root and this is somehow
arranged without fakeroot.
Presumbly something similar could work here. I haven't investigated.
FTR I am open to a patch.
