Well, it's not reproducible here, so you will need to provide more
information.

Sorry, this strace is not useful, it's an strace only of the
/etc/init.d/samba script -- not of the processes it spawns.  We will need an
strace of the smbd command itself.  Please also forward any log entries from
/var/log/samba/log.smbd when this happens.
