(...) Curious. Apparently, people are using this version w/ success (including me on amd64), so it does not fail to boot ROMS in ANY configuration. Does a pristine 0.8.25 upstream binary produce the problem, too (i.e., not the "rdrummond sources")? I am preparing for a new version soon, and will then somehow try to repeat the bug. In the meantime, maybe Florian and/or Antonio may add some basic "works/works not" w/ 0.8.25-1 from unstable here, so I can judge better if the package is usable as-is or not.
