I tried to fix this probably fairly trivial bug, only to find that the
build fails for unrelated reasons, and the repository on Salsa is a
mess:

This clearly shouldn't have been pushed, as it's broken and nobody is
planning to fix it. What do you want me to do with it? Shall I just
move your commits to a branch and roll back debian/master to the last
release, or do you have work in progress somewhere to fix this?
