Sounds like #392049. Can you confirm that rebuilding the apr source
package with your 2.4 kernel (and then installing the libapr1 .deb
file) fixes it?
the package http://www.aelius.com/~njh/debian/libapr1_1.2.7-6_i386.deb
with recomplied libapr1 linked in #392049 did fix the problem indeed.
