When I run the attached test.sh in my amd64 unstable pbuilder environment I get the following output: # ./test.sh ++ cat ++ gcc -c conftest.c ++ gcc -shared -o conftest.so conftest.o /usr/bin/ld: conftest.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC conftest.o: could not read symbols: Bad value collect2: ld returned 1 exit status ++ rm -f conftest.c conftest.o ++ test -f conftest.so HTH. -- Regards, Andreas Henriksson
