While this is the normal way this is to be done it doesn't reliably work on OOo upgrades. At least with the Wikipedia plugin for OOo I somethimes had to remove and register it again, otherwise I get errors. We need a policy for extensions like that, maybe with deregistering all plugins before a OOo upgrade and registering them again. But we need it, and we don't have it yet...
