Hi

Upgrade to postgresql-common (72) fails like so:

Setting up postgresql-common (72) ...
chown: cannot access `/var/lib/postgresql': No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing postgresql-common (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

this is an empty dir installed by postgresql-common (71).

Can be fixed like so:

# touch /var/lib/postgresql

and redo the upgrade to postgresql-common (72) . Not sure this is how
it _should_ be.

Regards

Gijs

And what is the compiler supposed to do instead? Go shopping for you
and buy more memory?

 postgresql-common (73) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/postgresql-common.dirs: Ship /var/lib/postgresql again, creating it
     dynamically causes various upgrade failures. Closes: #416146, #416228
   * debian/postgresql-common.postinst: Call adduser with --no-create-home.
     This avoids the 'wrong owner' warning as well.
