If you run the ibus-daemon and there is no ibus icon appear  in the top panel, 
then perhaps it means you do not have the ibus installed correctly.
Try to run the ibus-daemon in the terminal, such as gnome-terminal,  it will 
tells you why ibus can not be run.

After I pressed Alt+F2, a window popped up saying "Enter a Command"

I entered ibus-daemon in the empty box and press the Enter key on my keyboard

Nothing happened :(
