Details: overlayfs is a fs kernel module overlayroot is a package of scripts and conf that uses overlayfs to remount / on tmpfs and whatever / was originally mounted on (including nfs.) overlayroot's upstream: https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-initramfs-tools/tree/overlayroot/scripts/init-bottom/overlayroot 8 years ago overlayroot was removed due to missing dependency overlayfs https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=732788"; overlayfs is now in stable, I am using the current overlayroot in a project, so it would be good if the package was put back. upstream overlayroot has undergone changes over the 8 years, the MR include the changes, not the version from 8 years ago. -- Carl K -- Carl K
