Hello, Here are my notes from this month's meeting.
Cloud kernel updates and reorganization --------------------------------------- We discussed tactically enabling a few hardware drivers in the cloud kernel. This is aimed at reducing the confusion due to virtualization platforms that still default to emulating old physical hardware. There's also some ongoing work to clean up the cloud kernel organization. We plan to make the changes after this cleanup is complete. Hosting plans ------------- We occasionaly get requests for cloud resources from other teams and project members. But we don't really have any process or documentation to help with this. This is more complex than one might think. We get some free resources under our agreements with Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. But they each offer this under different conditions. Since we depend on those agreements to provide Debian to end users of these platforms, we need to ensure that we operate within the bounds of those agreements. We discussed improvements to this that we'd like to make: - testing software to manage self-service access to temporary VMs - tools/automation to define more durable infrastructure - defining which use-cases we can effectively provide hosting for - writing down rules for the use of these resources Hopefully we'll have some more updates this year. Scheduling ---------- Starting in October, meetings will be scheduled for 18:00 UTC. Thanks Ross
