This is likely in the archives somewhere already, but anyway, I think the curiosa void needs to be filled. And quickly! Those who have already seen this know where their 'd' keys lie. :) On with the story. I've just read a nice article by one Neal Stephenson (of /Snow Crash/ and /Cryptonomicon/ fame) where he states his reasons for using debian. It was written in Jan 1999 and I first read it around then, but I was not a debian user, nor had I heard of Stephenson nor his books then. My old housemate recommended /Snow Crash/ to me last year which I enjoyed very much, and he sent me an email the other day pointing to the aforementioned article. It was quite a shock to put the two and two together. Anyway, for those who haven't seen it, it can be found at: http://www.cryptonomicon.com/beginning.html and is titled "In the Beginning was the Command Line." In it he refers to bug #6518 which I also found interesting, having been submitted by about the only author whose books I have actually finished reading (I get bored with fiction pretty easily). And in Jan 1997 too! He's been using debian longer than me! Bastard... :) Pete
