Not exactly, but the core is seriously related to the package manager - just think - you have module Sendmail (for instance), but you haven't installed such software :-)))) And so on, and so on... YaST must have connection to the package archive/database at least, even we don't implement/port the "software instalation" module... There is no doubt that dpkg (and hopefully debconf) will plays a lot there.. Calling dpkg with passed parameters will not be the perfect solution - instead I guess we should use the API's - that is the libraries for :-)))) When I said internals, I mean the functions that should be called inside of our tool, not command line parameters :-)))
