cvs module is already in alioth. http://alioth.debian.org/projects/debsplash
i added the 2.6.10 patch to debsplash's kernel-patch* package. I also made sure the sources compile cleanly. In order to make the compilation work you will have to: get a kernel source from your favorite place configure it patch it re-configure it run make bzImage then go into debsplash-0.1 source and run: dpkg-buildpackage that process works well all the time. (in that order). as always, I have pre-patched and pre-compiled kernels in: http://www.latinomixed.com/downloads/debian-embelisher/deb/ there is a changelog in: http://www.latinomixed.com/downloads/debian-embelisher/ enjoy! PS very important! i tried to fix the purging/removal of debsplash-utils. this doesn't seem to be working correctly. also, i tried appending images to /boot/debsplash/debsplash.cpio.gz; I have not fully tested this, so make sure you backup your old .cpio.gz files (or check the readme about how to run splash_gen* by hand). this is highly experimental code yet. but i believe it's ready for some of us to start testing. now if we could make the verbose stuff disappear for ever... oh well... enjoy.
