Why is there a sudden need for a cent symbol? Australia has had cents for 35 years with no need for a special symbol (*). America has had cents for a long time (hundreds of years?) without the need for a special symbol. Did the French use a special symbol for "centimes"? Did the Dutch use a special symbol for their cents? If so it must not have been in common use because I've never seen it... Let's not go crazy with this i18n stuff. (*) There is a symbol used occasionally that is a 'c' with two small vertical lines going through the top and the bottom.
