debian-i386 could be a much smaller distro, too. Is anyone really running XFree86 4.2 or similarly heavyweight programs on such ancient machines? The slowest machine I ever work with these days is an old Pentium-90 with 32 MB RAM. I won't even put X on that anymore, though it did have X back when it was my only Linux machine. Craig
