This is due to the fact that Mozilla is now compiled with gcc 3.3, and that j2re1.3 is still compiled with gcc 2.95 ; both are incompatible. You can get a working j2re1.4 (blackdown doesn't provide 1.3 compiled with gcc 3.x) following this procedure : - getting the "official" binary package ftp://ftp.easynet.be/blackdown/JDK-1.4.1/i386/01/j2sdk-1.4.1-01-linux-i586-gcc3.2.bin - getting the diff file made by Sebastien Noël http://twolife.free.fr/debian/j2se1.4-i586_1.4.1.0.1-4.diff - put the binary package into some directory - inside this directory, use the patch with the command line : # patch -p1 -i /path/to/j2se1.4-i586_1.4.1.0.1-4.diff - now you can create a package with dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot or fakeroot debian/rules binary Mike -- "I have sampled every language, french is my favorite.
