Just for the record, I think sparc is (at least currently) quite a good example. As old ultrasparcs are often around and basicly unbreakable (at least those before pci was included), they are quite a nice thing to run as servers. (Thus I guess most of them run stable). Thus security-updates and stable releases are the essence of supporting such architectures. (Though many mirrors might not be so important, as users normaly do a mirror themselves and there is no need to reinstall them). And when support for cheap reliable servers gets missing, though is usability on clients. Though when sarge is finaly released, the situation might have changed.
