Oh, I see now.  I was misunderstanding what distcc did.  Very clever!

This might not account for much of the time. I know that libc and X
compilation spends a huge amount of time in header file inclusion
work.  It works for those cases.

But other cases spend lots of time doing things like outline tracing
and other non-compilation activities.  But still, something like this
could well make a huge dent.
