Yeah, aptitude (seems to have) some annoying startup delays (what's with that "loading cache"? It takes forever)... but aptitude is so vastly superior that I use it anyway. At a minimum, even if you never use the nice GUI, the automatic tracking of packages that can be deleted automatically when nobody depends on them is worth it.
