Oh, another possible advantage to having vim-tiny in base is that it includes the vimtutor command, which is a fairly good way to learn how to use vim (or any vi; it avoids most vim-isms). The tutor is how I finally learned (to love) vi after years of badly using and loathing it as the base editor on other unixes. Having our base vi be self-teaching like that could be nice.
