The correction can use either a single gamma value, or separate ones for each color component (R/G/B). . As CRT monitors rapidly lose low-to-mid-range luminance with age, gamma correction can significantly improve the usefulness of old ones. At the very least, light gray is easier to read than dark yellow. .
