I have been (rather half-heartedly) trying to do this in the last few weeks, but have not been very successful due to lack of time, and lack of knowledge about module-assistant and the Debian kernel packages. Add in vmware's rather twisted way of building the modules (made less evil by vmware-any-any), and I have to go a long way until I fully understand the implications of what I'm doing.
