You can remove them. If it is worth depends of course on your package - if you have a two-line-command it would probably not be worth to make an extra upload only to remove the command (to give one extrem). If however it makes the maintainer scripts practically unmaintainable, and you're about to upload a new version anyways, you should remove it. In the end, it is the maintainers decision.
