-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all,
I am pleased to announce the unofficial Debian monthly testing snapshot release for June 2011 (version 2011.06). This release is currently available in two flavors, i386 and amd64, as mini iso images (16 MiB each) downloadable from: http://alioth.debian.org/~gilbert-guest/snapshots/2011.06/debian-testing-snapshot-2011.06-i386-mini.iso sha512sum: f4839b92e8d090f7799f0e46b386c07522310d21a4fb05397586462d1024384e201a1f2ceb16e1adb8bc538231418b17bda1d846023326bb58d1cd7559af341f http://alioth.debian.org/~gilbert-guest/snapshots/2011.06/debian-testing-snapshot-2011.06-amd64-mini.iso sha512sum: c98ebd24550b8f64929967e1f5b09b56d746f7d1654b3a4978d67c58665203739a31922872a82730990d5423533e4a89a057321117a825daa317187f54addd61 These files can be written to CD or DVD media or directly to a USB stick. Instructions for USB installation can be found here: http://www.debian.org/releases/squeeze/i386/ch04s03.html.en IMPORTANT: There will be no inherent security support for these snapshot releases. The images do automatically set up testing-security as an apt source during installation, so any DTSA's (Debian Testing Security Advisories) will be automatically applied to snapshot installations. However, the security team does not issue many updates this way anymore (optioning instead to primarily use unstable uploads as a means to fix testing). This is an area that could potentially be improved if there are volunteers interested in this problem. For more information on current testing security processes, see: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/secure-testing/doc/narrative_introduction Ideally for those wishing to have a mostly security supported system, the snapshot media will simply be a reliable stepping stone for installation followed by an upgrade to testing proper, which does receive quasi-official support from the security team (i.e. uploads to unstable that transition to testing). To upgrade from a previous snapshot, change the existing snapshot entries in your /etc/apt/sources.list to: deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20110531T215005Z wheezy main deb-src http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20110531T215005Z wheezy main Note that upgradability of individual packages isn't necessarily guaranteed. Note that this is an unofficial project since it does not come with the backing or support from Debian as a team, but hopefully that will change in the future as the concept is proven out. Anyway, enjoy! And send feedback to cut-team at lists.alioth.debian.org. Best wishes, Mike -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) iQQcBAEBAgAGBQJN9TgqAAoJELjWss0C1vRzfjsf/0pHRQs5fVihref7Vi2NMJHW l9dBI9yKePqv/DyDVeR02sX+X27p+3VhPhYsaOTj6NBuKgMOrQ1PX9+o1hqmwqRY ircPHMtI7wgRVbYE8AsyeY4AQL/kzX6YZ1DY2y7M3nbF87VleBFvkT7CYPD3Q7QJ KeF+ZnJJSrhmD4ubCrIJ7b3zcF3cWB+ciLB9rDmgDoASNRYC7Fx2F7fylPXRGjwi Wt7FNB98ttW08Vbuaw3yn0sX1b/LxFfFvJUyoruedDtD3u21jhXQaVZOuwsC+Y1T gERl2KcHncMhRijP9xkRQqgLP6Z/10BJCMhFmRGBcdkCTqS74gHhYkflzB8qRaGy 8BX4yJlQuUJ0hg53paiwSA5KgC3JpLtQdVECQwRXbFLshA3YhNY5TAsc4CIhGTFF zSa9BgllQJodp94wCy8WynYhPioZVHOjhXm0OHxni2Z+G8MboQu5uB4mwmbKcy/7 0dlXMZUlHPZ6sv9cl8xPDVSjkWhzJ2fSzMJhYaCnyltDrdpKqGn3xhNw4uDxM0XY umhjGRM8hnS3YqSJMGQk/SmrpohZPKNCBedAXIySJu84QATzYBeDR5bZwWW10nfV wK3SDYGEx5yLzFWzxcySYBAvkkxkCB2yhiTc8CE8/U7MX04iVjzQTAI3abCunjlv vJT/lUhOUBQfinZDg9mWrZtiFlFoFYkzI9jB+gRPAR/7k9nAlw6ECmA56proWX6V rJrHOLBLU0yaQl1L7Kfzd2vsO7IOBRl+APY+02k3I/TdPeqP56gXmior+i9pb/D3 gymKYjI5DO5MSy6rmwPPGVFeFUmyBkM5bF8lUJYU3mZT94tXaA6gkPnGJ86mk6R+ 0w9ONvDXD9ywq71EffTqql3FK05T8/sRHlzLiGCLar+oDdPimoqz6xmvre9Sar+A 4Ro59I+7OkSdY4nEmjHhUULyIzjAxKLMG/RmWTUT+r9Mdu/US/qU2i+76oCt70mf ylsY3rwL6vDp6fTar7NLhKRjiFpOg6elLxCv5aC02NDeQj/aEqbQ/yNgISFCRONL 28zujof9gEc2FUCAZZIHKtyjDteJaFD9dEKSrMM+xXjTfFFOw9eeFFM48oNvscxY 1fcFP5HCMgt3PrjlJNg+qGUA7u+CEhJsZQnj8ZVrf5L1qKACZ0X7ZuDMEjwrTcoh oNRIgUmpQGjE8O8pk3Ks0xrqG6kkQZIEi60IDMyDdes/pPeA9b0Wnps+VvTJbiaT fFOoGqOfWk+0x9K7c8y3yvmAeFcFGnVBM7bUQrolBo63+nK+IeXBIeN82zzUeg7E kmBPFcLO9Yp+ZRPgWAJbfHlkLuyx3Nvu1GHc+83avHijzkrYjj5dfPy2wN3jQSA= =1qWC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
