What I don't buy is the "your /usr will be your /System" thing.  We're
too much entangled with /var (the dpkg DB for instance), so that there
are parts in /var that are not at all host-specific but /System-specific
which would then need to move to /usr to make sense.  (And indeed I
sort of consider it a feature if the dpkg status DB is not lockable when
/usr is read-only.  But that's not what we have today…)
