When it comes to the boot system we have collaborated quite a lot with Werner Fink who is SuSE/OpenSuSE affiliated with sysvinit/insserv & startpar, it would be wise of those who work on Debian's boot system to at least take note of what direction OpenSuSE takes and consider if we may have the opportunity to collaborate further when adopting new boot system technologies.
