Perhaps this is why Google who use Ubuntu have released their apparently very good cgroup handler which they have a huge amount invested in. I totally agree with the session bus when it is the right tool but the system bus and especially it's run as root/suid bit (system-services) going away would actually be a plus for me and many who care about security. RedHat said years ago programmers can be guaranteed and depend on the system bus ALWAYS being available, which is just rediculous! PID1 may not contain a high percentage of what systemd does but as it tries to do everything that means nothing, it is still > 10 times the size (hundreds of kilobytes, who knows how many lines) larger than init and I'm sure upstart to the point that it takes ages to boot due to cpu usage on some embedded systems(see the buildroot list). I'll say no more to prevent the usual "Turing Complete" bullshit argument popping up but as complex as you choose is a good thing. -- _______________________________________________________________________ 'Write programs that do one thing and do it well.
