Hmm. The advice in that link doesn't match what man machine-id says, which is to replace /etc/machine-id with an empty file rather than remove it, and then reboot. I have no idea which is the "correct" solution, but if the man page is correct, that seems to be the simpler solution. Does anyone know what applications use this file for what purpose? Is this a systemd-ism? ...Marvin
