Section 4.5.4 recommends doing "apt-get upgrade". However, very likely this will lead to upgrade of udev, and section 4.5.5 says than one needs to upgrade kernel before udev.
Ooops. I think I misread apt-get's output. s/very likely/impossible, unless someone is already running mixed lenny+squeeze system/.
Feel free to close the bug (though I think swapping these sections is worthwile).
