In the Ix86 version of the Squeeze Release Notes (at least) at
http://www.debian.org/releases/testing/i386/release-notes/, several
references are made to changing apt config options. The user is told
that they can change these options in /etc/apt/apt.conf. But no such
file exists on my Lenny system, and neither does it on that of a friend
running Syd, so chances are it doesn't in Squeeze either.
Instead, there is /etc/apt/apt.conf.d which contains a number of files
but nowhere obvious to specify the suggested directives.
I've yet to read the entire document, but have found this problem in
chapters 2 and 4. In particular, I'd like to disable the apparently new
behaviour of automatically installing recommended packages, but I don't
know where this directive should be specified.
Geoff.

It's not incorrect, the file just does not exist by default. Not a bug,
so closing. Thanks for your report.
