Hello,

if I change a conffile, I am given opportunity to install
the new or leave old file when updating (or installing when
the package wasn't previously purged). However, if I delete
a conffile (eg. by accident), there are no questions and
no file is being installed, without any notice. There
should be a similar question, IMHO.

I discovered this bug when I was trying to install Oracle 10g XE
and one of the conffiles (the init script) dissapeared while
installing -- the problem here was that postinst deleted the conffiles,
I didn't purge and the install failed because of that. I know
the error was in oracle (it was converted from rpm), however,
you can never tell if some filesystem damage or other disasters
won't delete your conffiles.

Regards
