I generally use dselect, it would be good if I hadn't potentially ~300 packages with potentially dangling config files, but only the few for which I voluntarily keep the config files. $ dpkg -l |grep -v ^ii |grep "^rc lib"|wc -l 168 => I have 168 'rc' packages starting with 'lib' $ ls -l /var/lib/dpkg/info/lib*.conffiles |wc -l 29 => But there are only at most 29 on my system which have conffiles... => at least 130 could have been purged, with all corresponding files in var/lib/dpkg/info Cheers -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18.1 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ISO-8859-15) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages dpkg depends on: ii coreutils 5.97-5.2 The GNU core utilities ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries dpkg recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
