If the way ABI is tracked in ghc is causing valid bugs to be thrown away, that's a problem, in my opinion. I would like to see this fixed in ghc/wheezy so the workaround can be safely dropped in dpkg/wheezy+1. No rush, though (i.e., it can happen after the transition if there's no upload until then).
