Dear Maintainer, -- What led to this? The big java bug and its fix -- What did I do? Well: Now, first some background: I am all for free software. Such as OpenJDK, and IcedTeaPlugin and... However, my netbank disagrees. Maybe someday Icedtea java plugin for iceweasel etc will be good enough but meanwhile my netbank does insist on Oracle jre and matching plugin. So I install the latest and greatest bugfix and try to use the gread Debian update-alternatives like this: sudo update-alternatives --install "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so" "mozilla-javaplugin.so" "/usr/local/jre1.7.0_07/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so" 1 and all is well. Or is it? Iceweasel tells me (about:plugins) no javaplugin. I look at the works and: ls -l /etc/alternatives/moz* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 52 syys 12 12:20 /etc/alternatives/mozilla-javaplugin.so -> /usr/local/jre1.7.0_07/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_oji.so Well. Great. These days the *correct* plugin happens to be libnpjp2.so. So I try next to "--force --install" but no luck. I still get the *wrong* plugin. -- How to fix this? I do not know. I did solve the problem, but: Possibly I miss something obvious, and if I failed in my rtfm I do beg your pardon.
