Thank you for proposing this compromise. I think we can safely restrict this bug to supporting decompression (not compression) of binary packages (not source packages). That really is the piece that multiple people asked for. I'm glad that we finally reached consensus on this despite the fact that we don't like how it was reached. I am slightly worried though since yesterday's upload still doesn't include that support and the toolchain freeze seems rather close. Having bookworm not support zstd would make things more painful for anyone who wants to support Ubuntu repository infrastructure on Debian machines. Helmut
