Package: dpkg Version: 1.4.0.24 Strange situation here:
Two packages of me contained /man/man1 (this is a bug, okay), glade, glademm. I installed glademm with /man/man1 directory. I also installed glade with /man/man1. Then I upgraded glade to a version without /man/man1. Because I didn't know that glademm contains the directories, I removed them, and downgraded to glade with /man/man1 for testing (I intended to upgrade again, to see if dpkg removes the directories). See what happened: flora:/gnu# dpkg -i /home/brinkmds/debian/packages/glade/glade_0.3.1-1_i386.deb (Reading database ... 33858 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace glade 0.3.1-2 (using .../glade/glade_0.3.1-1_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement glade ... dpkg: error processing /home/brinkmds/debian/packages/glade/glade_0.3.1-1_i386.deb (--install): trying to overwrite /man', which is also in package glademm Segmentation fault Thank you, Marcus -- System Information Debian Release: 2.0 Kernel Version: Linux flora 2.1.106 #1 SMP Sat Jun 20 23:27:39 CEST 1998 i586 unknown Versions of the packages dpkg depends on: hi libc6 2.0.7pre1-4 The GNU C library version 2 (run-time files) hi libstdc++2.8 2.90.29-0.4 The GNU stdc++ library (egcs version) hi ncurses3.4 1.9.9g-8.5 Video terminal manipulation - shared librari -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
