If someone who knows dpkg can tell me the exact command to clear the updates directory then I can clear up that message. This message means that a previous run of dpkg has crashed and that /var/lib/dpkg directory is in an inconsitant state. dpkg is the only program that can correct this, apt doesn't make any attempt to recover as it may be a very serious error that requires your attention. This is trigered by the precense of files in /var/lib/dpkg/updates, I'm told that usually dpkg --configure -a will clean them out, but if that causes dpkg to crash again then I have no idea what to recommend. Unless you have any suggestions about I could to to make APT deal with this better I will close this bug report. Jason -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
