Package: dpkg Version: 1.4.0.27 Hi.
I am not sure what is at fault here, but anyway, when I install certain packages, eg pico I get messages like: Setting up pico (3.96M-1) ... Checking available versions of editor, updating links in /etc/alternatives ... (You may modify the symlinks there yourself if desired - see `man ln'.) Leaving editor (/usr/bin/editor) pointing to /usr/bin/nvi. Leaving editor.1.gz (/usr/man/man1/editor.1.gz) pointing to /usr/man/man1/nvi.1.gz. Removing editor.1 (/usr/man/man1/editor.1), not appropriate with /usr/bin/nvi. It says /usr/man/man1/editor.1 should be deleted, but it isn't: snoopy# ls -l /usr/man/man1/editor.1* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Jul 24 20:29 /usr/man/man1/editor.1 -> /etc/alternatives/editor.1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Dec 13 1997 /usr/man/man1/editor.1.gz -> /etc/alternatives/editor.1.gz -- System Information Debian Release: 2.0 Kernel Version: Linux snoopy 2.1.105 #2 Tue Jun 9 20:51:42 EST 1998 i486 unknown Versions of the packages dpkg depends on: ii libc6 2.0.7t-1 The GNU C library version 2 (run-time files) ii libstdc++2.8 2.90.29-0.6 The GNU stdc++ library (egcs version) ii ncurses3.4 1.9.9g-8.8 Video terminal manipulation - shared librari
