Hi Gavin, seems like everybody sticked to your AMD vs. Intel question - hence belated comments on the topic :)

You are right that there is no specific users list in English - AFAIK that is. We had similar discussions on German users list - which was created as users list from the very beginning. Still, mere front end users keep complaining about too much technical contents... > The reason I ask is I'm hoping in the next few weeks to start a test in > order to help my old school set up a Skolelinux network here in Dublin. > The main teacher involved is extremely smart but not that experienced with > linux. On the other hand there are two contradicting issues: * splitting up this list could increase the loss by friction * real front end users are not too familiar with mailing lists - a web forum possible rather matches their needs > > Personally, I would sign up for both lists but I would prefer not to > ask/answeruser or basic admin questions on the Dev group and I think the > technical level of discussion would be a bit off-putting to a teacher who > is relatively new to linux. > > Presumably the point of Skolelinux is that teachers and school students are > the main target. However, this indicates that people on this list are the most competent to answer users' problems... <<--cut-->> Regards to Dublin & hello to Belfield :) Ralf
